01 / UNDERSTAND THE GAME

Football at walking pace.
A different way to
keep playing.

Walking football is a form of football played at walking pace instead of running. In Spanish, it is also called walking fútbol, fútbol caminando or fútbol andando.

The pace changes, but the passing, teamwork and enjoyment of meeting on the pitch remain. Rules can vary between organisations and competitions, so it helps to learn how each group plays.

In Barcelona, you can discover WABOL®, a game with its own identity and rules. Playing with 2-3 touches encourages everyone to share the ball and take part, whether you have played before or are just starting.

02 / OUR WAY TO PLAY

You know walking football.
Now meet WABOL®.

Walking, passing the ball and enjoying the game together are common ground. WABOL has its own approach.

01

Walking only

There is no running in WABOL. The rhythm of the game comes from your teammates and the ball.

02

2-3 touches

Two or three touches to control and pass, depending on the session format. A rule that puts shared play at the heart of the game.

03

No physical contact

Respect for others is part of the game. We avoid physical contact between players.

If you come from another walking football group, we’ll explain WABOL’s rules before you start. If you have never played, we’ll do the same.

Questions?
You’re in good company.

What you need to take the first step.

Are walking fútbol and walking football the same?

They are different names for football played at walking pace. Spanish speakers also use fútbol caminando and fútbol andando; in Catalan, futbol caminant or futbol a peu. Rules may vary by organisation or competition.

Is WABOL the same as every walking football game?

Walking and playing a team ball game are shared elements, but WABOL has its own identity and rules, including 2-3 touches. We’ll explain how to play before your first session.

Do I need football experience?

No. You can start with no previous experience. We’ll explain the rules and help you settle into the group.

Who are the sessions for?

Especially men and women over 55 who want to stay active and share an activity in Barcelona. If you are a different age or have questions about your circumstances, get in touch and we’ll tell you more about the group.

What should I bring?

Comfortable clothes and suitable sports shoes. We provide the playing equipment and will explain any practical details when you confirm your visit.

How much does it cost, and when can I come?

Contact WABOL for current fees, first-session arrangements, times and available places, so you have up-to-date information before you visit.

Can I come on my own, or just watch first?

Yes. You can come without knowing anyone, or visit to watch first. Get in touch so we can arrange your visit and introduce you to the group.
